JOHN F. KANABACK was born Sept. 29, 1923, in Seldovia, to Walter and Olympia Kanaback. He attended school in Seldovia until 10th grade. Later, he and his brother, Walter, Jr., lived with Martin Hogensen and his family near Eldred Passage.
By the time he was 18, John was already working for the Snug Harbor Packing Company in Snug Harbor, and he continued to work there for 25 years.
He also served in the Alaska Territorial Guard.
John died in Palmer, Alaska on May 10, 1999 and is buried in the Seldovia City Cemetery, Plot #52.
