JOHN FRITGOF MARTINSON was born in Hunnebostrand, Sweden on January 26, 1889.

On March 24, 1913, he sailed from Gottenberg, Sweden to New York on the SS Carmania.

John was living in San Francisco, California in 1916 when he registered for the draft for WWI. He listed himself as an unemployed fisherman.

He was in Alaska, living in Dutch Harbor in 1940, and in 1942 when he registered for the draft in WWII. He applied for U.S. citizenship in 1936 in Naknek, Alaska and received his naturalization in Alaska in 1941. He was a fisherman all of his life.

He died in Seldovia November 13, 1946. He is buried in the Seldovia City Cemetery in Plot #181.
