Theodor Joachim Steffenson, “Tom” was born February 13, 1886 in Ibestad, Norway. On May 23, 1944 he became a US citizen and his name was officially changed to Tom Steffenson. He was an independent fisherman in Portlock. He died of strangulation on May 5, 1946 and is buried in the Seldovia City Cemetery in plot 158.
