ELAINE MERLE STEURER GILES was born in Wisconsin on July 29, 1922. She married Larry George Giles one of two Giles brothers who settled in Seldovia. December 21, 1944 in Chelan, Washington. They raised five children. Over the years, Elaine held numerous civic and city positions. She was an active volunteer in many school and civic activities in the town she loved. Her daughter, Marillyn preceded her in death, and they are buried in the Seldovia City Cemetery, facing each other. She died January 16, 2010 and is buried in the Seldovia City Cemetery in Plot #344, facing her daughter Marilyn K. Giles.
