Thomas Johansen, son of Anton and Alexandra CHICHENOFF Johansen, was born in Karluck, Alaska in 1898 and died in Seldovia in 1916 at the age of 18. He was first buried in the old Russian Orthodox Cemetery near the beach, but his grave was part of the re-burial in the City Cemetery as part of the urban renewal project after the 1964 earthquake. He is in Plot #1609.
Thomas and his sisters Inga and Mary were living in San Francisco, California in 1910, in a Protestant Orphan Asylum Society orphanage. Their father was widowed and living in Kenai, Alaska. His sister Mary became a wife of Frank Burgin in Seldovia.
